We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:10

God’s desire for each of our lives is more than salvation – more than simply being saved from hell. It is “so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body”. That is, we are to exhibit the life of Christ in our mortal flesh to the world around us – in our actions, our words, and even our thoughts. This is not easy for us to do and certainly does not come naturally.

We exhibit the life of Christ by developing godly habits (such as patience, grace, forgiveness, etc.), in order to express what God’s grace has done in us. And God will often use adversity in our lives to develop these godly habits. So we must learn to not only endure adversity, but to also accept it and realize God has allowed it into our lives for His divine purpose. No matter how difficult something may be, we must learn to say “Lord, I am delighted to obey you in this.” When you allow God to work in you in such a way, instantly the Son of God will manifest in your body that which glorifies Him.

Are you going through adverse circumstances right now? Is God trying to develop godly characteristics in you? Does He want the life of Jesus to be revealed in you? Remember that surrender and obedience to God are the keys. And if God brings you into adversity, He is adequately sufficient to “supply all your need” (Php 4:19).
